On October 17, 2025, ACE Advisory Board Chair Kike Aluko Wahutu participated in the 2025 Annual Conference of the African Society of International Law (AfSIL) in Maputo, Mozambique, as Chair of the Fireside Chat on African Creative Industries entitled “Navigating Global Markets &Capturing Value.” The discussion featured renowned Mozambican saxophonist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, and cultural entrepreneur, Mr. Moreira Chonguiça. The theme of the conference was Africa, Culture & International Law, with conversations focused on how international law - including trade, intellectual property, and investment law - can be reshaped to ensure benefits flow back to African creators and communities. The Fireside Chat highlighted Mr. Chonguiça’s personal journey as a creative entrepreneur in both Mozambique and South Africa, as well as current challenges and opportunities surrounding the creative industries in Mozambique.
